Eric D. Soufrine

Pfc. Eric D. Soufrine, age 20, of Woodbridge, Connecticut., died on June 14, 2011, in Farah province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. 

Jesus, pray for Eric

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Eric was a 2009 graduate of Amity High School and enlisted in the Army after graduation. Eric joined the Army on May 11, 2010, and was deployed to Afghanistan on Dec. 10.

His father, Michael Soufrine, stated that his son “was a great kid... never gave me a bit of trouble.” and that “This is the worst thing that could ever happen to you."

Eric had earned the National Defense Service Medal and the NATO Service Medal.  Eric had planned to go to college in Colorado and look for a job with the forest service upon returning from his tour overseas.

Family members stated that he was a special young man, that he died a hero, defending the country that he loved, and that Eric had a kind heart. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Eric D. Soufrine is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
