Nigel Dean Mead

British Marine, Nigel Dean Mead, age 19, was killed in Afghanistan on May 15, 2011.

He is known as "Deano" to his friends.

He had been part of a team searching a compound in the Loy Mandeh Wadi area of the Nad-e Ali district when he was fatally injured by an improvised explosive device.

Nigel joined the Royal Marines in 2008 when he was only 17 years old. He was with the 42 Commando Royal Marines.

The teenager, who lived with his mother and younger sister in Carmarthen, joined the Royal Marines when he was only 17.

Jesus, pray for Nigel
His mother, Amanda Jones, stated that "I could never write enough words that would truly say how much I loved and thought of you. You're not a one-in-a-million son, you are one-in-a-hundred-million."

"Although you turned out to be a proud and heroic Royal Marine you will always be my little blue-eyed boy." Other family members described Nigel as the best brother ever and the best friend.

Others said that he was selfless, warm-hearted, utterly professional and took enormous pride in his job.

Military officials said that Nigel was a young man with considerable inner strength.

God help all teen-agers taken to war. God take them all to heaven.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Nigel Dean Mead is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
