Benjamin J. Palmer

Lt. Col. Benjamin J. Palmer, age 43, of Modesto, California., died May 12, 2011, while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Lt. Col. Palmer was assigned to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Cherry Point, N.C.

Ben Palmer entered the service on May 15, 1986, in Modesto, California.

His awards and decorations include the defense meritorious service medal, meritorious service medal with gold star, joint service commendation medal, Korean defense service medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps commendation medal with two gold stars.

Ben was highly praised by his commanding officers.
