Jose M. Caraballo Pietri

Sgt. Jose M. Caraballo Pietri, age 32, of Yauco, Puerto Rico, died April 10, 2011, in Badghis province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. 

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery Regiment, 170th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Baumholder, Germany.

Alicia Pietri, his mother, described him as an exceptional child, excellent human being and a true friend. His brother Abner misses him greatly. Jose Pietri left for Afghanistan on 22 February, 2011.

Military officials said that Jose will be promoted posthumously and will receive the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medal. 


Jose is also survived by his wife, who lives in New York State.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jose Pietri is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen

I as proud to serve with Jose during the late 90's in Germany so he actually served more than 3 years in the military but he never looked for any trouble he was a good man. God please bless his soul and take care of his family.

I have trained and deployed with him until the lord called him home. There is not a dout in my mind he is in heaven where he belongs. There is not a day that goes by that our battery does not think of him! May God bless him and his family
