Jeremy D. Smith

Staff Sgt. Jeremy D. Smith, age 26, of Arlington, Texas, died April 6, 2011, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

All angels pray
for Jeremy
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, based out of Houston, Texas.

Jeremy had served three tours in Iraq. After he got out of the Marines, he joined the Marine Reserves and was sent on a tour of Afghanistan. He was a 2003 graduate of Martin High School in Arlington. Teachers there said he was passionate about his patriotism and following the Sept. 11 attacks he made the decision to join the military right out of school.  He was studying criminal justice at UTA and was about a year away from graduating. But he ultimately wanted to return to the Marines as an officer.

He enlisted in June 2003, and had completed three combat tours to Iraq.

Jeremy Smith had received numerous awards and medals, including two Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jeremy D. Smith is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
