Donald L. Nichols

Spc. Donald L. Nichols, age 21, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died on April 13, 2011, in Laghman province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device.
All angels, pray
for Donald

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment, Iowa Army National Guard, Waterloo, Iowa.

A platoon member said "He just brought like a light to our platoon; He was just always happy-go-lucky. He wasn't really loud. He always had his notebook out. He always wanted to learn. He would have gone far, I know that for certain."

Donald's fiancee, Chelsey Bliss, stated "He was so sweet, amazing. He was the coolest guy ever."

Donald Nichols is survived by his mother and stepfather, Roger and Becky Poock of Waterloo; his father and stepmother, Jeff and Jeanie Nichols of Shell Rock; his brothers, Nick of Waterloo, and Joe; and his grandmothers, Kay Secor and Carol Buchholz, and his grandfather, Donald L. Nichols, all of Waterloo.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Donald L. Nichols is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
