Paul Cuzzupe

Pfc. Paul O. Cuzzupe II, of Plant City, Fla., died in Akhtar-Mohammad-Khan, Afghanistan, on August 8, 2010, of wounds sustained in a roadside bomb attack.

He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, based in Vilseck, Germany.

He was 23 years old.

Paul Cuzzupe joined the Army in July 2009, and conducted initial training with Battery F, 1st Battalion, 40th Field Artillery, 434th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill, Okla.

After basic training, he attended combat medic training with Company F, 232nd Medical Battalion at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was assigned to the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment in April this year.

Because of his compassionate nature, Cuzzupe was known as “Care Bear” to the other soldiers in the medical platoon, the USAREUR release said. Before the unit deployed to Afghanistan in June, Cuzzupe was attached to Company G, where he was assigned as the medic for 3rd Platoon.  Though he was new to the platoon, Cuzzupe quickly earned the nickname “Doc”.

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Paul Cuzzupe is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
