Sgt. Christopher Karch, a 2005 graduate of Lawrence Central High School, was about a month away from ending his tour of duty in Afghanistan when he was cut down by an insurgent's bullet.
Sgt. Christopher Karch, a 23-year-old paratrooper, was killed August 11, 2010, in a firefight in the Arghandab Valley of Afghanistan. Insurgents attacked his unit with small-arms fire.
"He had a set of wings tattooed on his back because he's a paratrooper," said his grandfather, Norman Karch, Anderson. "He thought that would protect him. Now he's got his own set of wings."
Christopher Karch was assigned to the Army's 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, N.C.
Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Christopher Karch is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
