Phillip Meacham |
Officer Meacham was a member of the Hopkinsville Police Department. He had one year of service with the Department. He had 12 years of service with the Christian County Sheriff's Office.
Phillip was off duty. Just after 5:00 p.m. he was driving in his personal vehicle on a residential street in Hopkinsville, when he was pulled over by a police impersonator. A confrontation occurred in which the impersonator shot Phillip.
Phillip was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
The shooter, James DeCoursey, age 35, fled the scene and drove to Tennessee where he was located by local officers and U.S. Marshals who shot and killed him.
The members of the Hopkinsville Police Department and the members of the Christian County Sheriff's Office are in mourning over the death of their brother. Phillip was one of the good guys. He

Phillip's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Phillip is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two young children.
Thank you for your service, Phillip.
Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.
God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
Pray that Phillip is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
