David Bauders - Washington National Guard Fatality - Iraq

1st Lt. David A. Bauders, age 25, of Seattle, Washington, died on May 6, 2016, at the Al Asad Air Base, in Anbar Province, Iraq.

The cause of Lt. Bauder's death is under investigation at this time and has not been released to the media. 

David was a member of Washington National Guard and was assigned to the 176th Engineer Company, Snohomish, Washington.

David had deployed to Iraq on March 30, 2016. His company's task was to construct and maintain military buildings and other infrastructure.

David graduated from Forest Grove High School where he was a star in track and field. He then attended the University of Portland where he earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and psychology. He was commissioned into the National Guard in May 2013 as an ROTC cadet. 

In his civilian life, he was a trooper with the Washington State Patrol.  He had been

sworn in as a Trooper in 2014. 

The Washington National Guard and the Washington State Patrol are in mourning over the death of their young brother. He will be forever remembered.

David's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a true hero with a big heart and a warm smile. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

David is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Thank you for your service to Washington State and to your country, David. 

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye. 

Pray, without ceasing, unto God for an end to all war.

Pray that David is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
