Anthony Freeman - Law Enforcement Fatality - Bibb County, Georgia

Investigator Anthony Freeman, age 29, died in the line of duty on May 5, 2016, at a hospital in Macon, Georgia.

Investigator Freeman was a member of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. He had previously served with the Macon Police Department. He had 7 years of service in law enforcement. 

Anthony was known as "TJ" to his family and friends. 

At about 3:00 a.m., another Deputy had encountered a suspicious vehicle in an area of Macon where there had been a lot of burglaries in recent weeks. A pursuit ensued and the fleeing driver drove into Anthony Freeman's vehicle near an intersection. 

Anthony was rushed to a nearby hospital where, tragically, he died of his injuries. 

The man who drove into Anthony's vehicle, Martavious Taquan Kinder, age 24, sustained only minor injuries and is in custody.

The circumstances of the accident are under investigation. 

Anthony was a narcotics investigator. He had service as a SWAT member and a K-9 officer.

Friends and comrades describe Anthony as a Deputy's Deputy. He had a sterling character and was well-liked and well-respected by his colleagues. He was a "go to" guy who played a leadership role in the department. He loved his work and loved helping others. 


The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the death of their young brother. He will be forever remembered.

Anthony's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a loving husband and father. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Anthony is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Jessica, and their two young children.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Anthony is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
