Louis Cardin - U.S. Military Fatality - Iraq

Staff Sgt. Louis F. Cardin, age 27, of Temecula, California, died in the line of duty on March 19, 2016, near Makhmour in northern Iraq.

He died of wounds suffered when his unit's camp was attacked by ISIS rocket fire. Eight other Marines were injured in the attack. 

Staff Sgt. Cardin was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Louis was known as Louie to his family and friends.

Louis joined the Marine Corps in June of 2006. He had served three deployments to Afghanistan and two deployments to Iraq.

His awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal, three Marine Corps Good Conduct medals, three Afghanistan Campaign medals, Iraq Campaign medal, National Defense Service medal, Presidential Unit Citation-Navy, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and three Sea Service Deployment ribbons.

Louis grew up in Anza and Aguanga in California before the family moved to Temecula. He graduated from Chaparral High School in Temecula in 2006. He joined the
Angels of God, pray for Louis and for those
who have lost him. 
Marines that same year. 

The Marine Corps is in mourning over the death of their brother. He will be forever remembered.

Louis' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He had a sense of humor. He loved his family and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Louis is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Thank you for your service to your country, Louis.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to war.

Pray that Louis is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
