Trooper Jeffrey Nichols, age 27, died in the line of duty on March 26, 2016, on a highway near Tigertown, in Lamar County, Texas.

Trooper Nichols was a member of the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was stationed in Paris, Texas. He had five years of service.

Around 11:00 p.m., Jeffrey was travelling on a highway near Tigertown when his patrol vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Tragically, Jeffrey died at the scene of the accident.

The accident is under investigation.

The troopers of the Department of Public Safety are in mourning over the death of their young brother. He was a professional who will be forever remembered.

Jeffrey's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He was loved. He will be forever mourned.

Jeffrey is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and father.
