Roger Unton - a store clerk murdered in Hammond, Indiana

Roger Unton, age 60, died on January 20, 2016, at a hospital in Hammond, Indiana.

Hammond is a city in Lake County, Indiana with a population of just under 81,000. It is part of the Chicago, Illinois metropolitan area. 

Roger was working the over-night shift at a 7-Eleven in Hammond. Just after 4:30 a.m., a male entered the store to rob it. 

During the confrontation Roger was shot twice. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries. 

A male suspect is believed to have left the area on foot and remains at large. No other description of the suspect is available as of this posting.

To the thief who killed Roger Unton, we ask this question: What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

Roger's home was in Blue Island, Illinois. He had worked the late shift for 10 years. 

Roger's wife, Patti, stated that her husband wasn't easily intimidated and would have stood up against any robbery attempt.

Roger is described as a passionate man who loved life. He was involved with the
Light a candle for Roger. Light his way to Heaven.
Sons of the American Legion and loved to garden. He was a caregiver for his elderly parents who are in ill health. 

Roger's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was always willing to help others. He was always there for his wife and family. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Roger is survived by many loving friends and family members including his parents and his wife, Patti. 

Pray for justice for Roger. 

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Roger is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
