Adam Conrad - Corrections Officer - Illinois

Correctional Officer Adam Conrad, age 22, of Sandoval, Illinois, died in the line of duty on January 20, 2016, at a hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.

Officer Conrad was a member of the Marion County Sheriff's Office. He had almost 18 months of service. 

At about 8:00 a.m., Adam was conducting a prisoner transport when the van he was driving went out of control near Mount Vernon, Illinois. Conditions were snowy. The van crossed the median and was struck head on by a semi trailer. 

Both Adam and the 17 year old prisoner were rushed to nearby hospitals. Tragically, Officer Conrad died of his injuries. 

Adam was a 2011 graduate of Mater Dei High School where he was an active member of the baseball team and the Big Brother/Big Sister program. He attended both Kaskaskia College and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. 

Adam had served his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Sandoval Fire Department. He was a member of The Rock Church in Centralia. 

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is in mourning over the death of their young brother. Adam was a well respected member of the department who loved his job. He

had a promising career ahead of him. He had a caring personality and was well-liked. He will be forever remembered.

Adam's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Adam is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his parents, Charlie and Beverly Conrad, and his brother, Andy.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Adam is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
