Todd Rummel - Firefighter - Montana

Fire Chief Todd Allen Rummel, age 44, died in the line of duty on June 19, 2014, on a highway near Three Forks, Montana.

Todd was a member of the Three Forks Volunteer Fire Department. He had a total of 29 years of service as a volunteer firefighter. He had started volunteering with Fire Departments as a kid.

He joined the Three Forks Department in 2006. Several years later he became the department's battalion chief and then was elected to Chief in May of 2014. Todd had previously served as a volunteer firefighter at the Haycock Fire Company in Quakerstown, Pennsylvania.

Todd was driving a fire truck from a repair shop back to the fire hall when he was involved in an accident with a pickup truck. The vehicles collided head on. Both vehicles exploded in an inferno. Todd died at the scene of the impact.

Five occupants of the pickup truck also tragically perished in the collision. They are

believed to be a couple and their three children. Their names have not been released as of this posting. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The Three Forks Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Comrades there describe Todd as totally dedicated to firefighting. He will be greatly missed.

Todd's family are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Todd is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray for the family of five who have died so tragically.

Pray that Todd is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
