Chief of Police Lee Dixon, age 54, died in the line of duty on June 19, 2014, in Little River-Academy, Texas.

Lee Dixon was the only employee of the Little River-Academy Police Department. Lee had served with the Milam County Sheriff's Office for nine years. He had served at Little River Academy for two years in 2004 and 2005 and had just returned a month ago to recommence his employment. He also worked as a jailer for Bell County.

Little River-Academy is a town in Bell County, Texas, with a population of approximately 2,000. It is about 140 miles southwest of Dallas. 

After 5:00 p.m., Chief Dixon had responded to reports of a man brandishing a gun at a house in town. He arrived at the house and requested backup from the Bell County Sheriff's Office. Before help could arrive, Lee Dixon was shot by a suspect in the house.

Lee died at the scene of the incident.

laid as of this posting. Reportedly, David Riser is a former Police Officer with 19 years of service in law enforcement.

The local community is in mourning over the death of Lee Dixon who is described as well respected, trusting and determined. He is also described as one of the nicest men you would ever want to meet who always had a smile on his face.

Lee's loved ones are devastated over his tragic and senseless death. He will be forever mourned.

Lee is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife.
