Stephen Arkell |
Stephen was a part-time member of the Brentwood Police Department. He had 12 years of service.
Officer Arkell and other officers had responded to a domestic dispute call at the house shortly before 5:00 p.m. A father and son had been arguing and the police were called.
Stephen had entered the house when a male subject opened fire, killing him. The other officers were forced to retreat from the home because of the gunfire
A short time later a massive explosion and fire destroyed the home. The shooter, Michael Nolan, age 47, is believed to have been killed in the explosion.
Stephen served as a Patrolman only on Mondays on the 3 - 11 p.m. shift. The rest of the time he was an animal control officer, a plow driver, a skilled carpenter and a coach.
Michael, Archangel, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Stephen and for those who have lost him |
Friends describe Stephen as humorous and pleasant to be around. His family was his pride and joy.
Still others describe him as a great guy who was a hard worker. He was giving and helpful. He volunteered in the community. He was supportive of his kids. He coached high school lacrosse at Exeter High School.
Pray for all who die suddenly and violently. They are with us one moment and gone before we can say goodbye.
God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers.
Pray that Stephen is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
The Brentwood Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He will be forever remembered.
