Trooper Christopher Skinner, age 42, of Binghamton, New York, died in the line of duty on May 29, 2014, on a highway in Broome County, New York State.

Trooper Skinner was a member of the New York State Police. He was assigned to the Traffic Incident Management Branch. He was based at the Sidney Barracks in Delaware County. He had 13 years of service.

Chris was conducting a traffic stop around noon on Interstate 81. He was standing outside of his patrol car when he was struck by a hit and run driver, Almond Upton, age 60.

Chris died at the scene.

Almond Upton left his pickup truck and ran off into the woods, naked, and was apprehended an hour later. He was travelling from Melrose, Florida to Connecticut to visit his mother. He confessed that he sideswiped two vehicles on the highway and 
then swerved into Trooper Skinner on purpose. He has been charged with murder in the death of Chris Skinner. Upton appeared sober at the time of his apprehension.

The New York State Police are in mourning over the death of their brother. Chris will be

Christopher's family are devastated over his tragic and senseless death. He will be forever mourned.

Chris is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, Sharyn; his brother, Shawn; his children, Kyle (age 15) and Erin (age 12) and his fiancée, Surrena.

Thank you for your service to the public, Chris.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Chris is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
