Thomas Sonnenberg - A Good Samaritan killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Thomas Sonnenberg, age 69, died on January 31, 2014, at his home in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Just before midnight, Thomas answered frantic knocking at the door of his home.  A man was hollering to be let in. He said that someone was trying to kill him.  Thomas let the man in and called the police.

When the police arrived at the house they found Thomas dead with a bullet wound to his head.

Devon Parker, age 20, has been charged with second degree murder.  It is believed that robbery was the motive, but because of a complicated dead bolt system on the doors of the house, Devon Parker was unable to get out and went into a rage, killing Thomas and attacking Elaine, Thomas' wife.

Devon Parker
Devon Parker has prior convictions for assault including a shooting incident, and drug and trespassing convictions.  He was supposed to be in court to be sentenced for another assault on the day Thomas Sonnenberg was shot.  This dude is only 20 years old and already has a rap sheet like Judas.

It is believed that Thomas was shot with his own gun.

Family members describe Thomas Sonnenberg as a man with a big heart who frequently helped those in need.  He was a kind, gentle man. He would give you the shirt off of his back.  They are greatly mourning his tragic and unnecessary death.

Thomas was a U.S. Veteran.

Thomas is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Elaine; and his daughters, Rachel, Jennifer and Raina.
Pray for Thomas

Pray for justice for Thomas.

Pray for the Good Samaritans who die while coming to the aid of others.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers.

Pray that Thomas is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
