William Wrigley - an off-duty Police Officer died in New York State

William Wrigley, age 35, of Livingston, died on January 24, 2014, on a highway in New York State.

William was a member of the Hudson Police Department, Columbia County, New York State. He had 11 years of service.

He was off duty at the time of his death.  He crashed his vehicle and struck a tree at about 5:13 a.m.  He may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

William was a Navy veteran.  He worked for the Hudson Police Department as a patrol and bike officer. He liked working with children during the department’s bike rodeos, and always volunteered for the city’s numerous parades and events.

He was 6 feet, 5 inches tall and friends describe him as a man who was big in stature. He is also described as kind-hearted and a fine officer.  He was simply a nice guy. 

The Hudson Police Department is deeply in mourning over the death of their brother and acknowledge his contribution to the safety of this city.

William is survived by many loving friends and family members including his parents and his brother who will forever miss him.
