Amber Long - a victim of thieves in Philadelphia

Amber Long, age 26, died on January 19, 2014, in a hospital in Philadelphia. 

Late at night, Amber and her mother, Stephanie, were walking from the train station to their car which was parked in a upbeat neighbourhood of Philadelpia.  They had attended a jewelry party. 

They were ambushed by two thieves.  One thief grabbed the mother's purse off of her shoulder while the other attempted to grab Amber's purse. She resisted and the thief pulled out a gun and shot her in the chest. 

Amber was rushed to a local hospital where she passed away at about 11:15 p.m. 

Anyone with information is urged to contact Philadelphia Police at 215-686-3334. There is a $20,000. reward for information leading to arrests and convictions in this case. 

Amber graduated from Philadelphia University in 2011 with a degree in Architecture. She was working for a local architectural firm in Philadelphia. 

Family members describe her as having a zest for life, kind, and generous with smiles and hugs. 

Friends describe her as an amazing artist and a good kid.  She was a kind, loving,

intelligent and professional young woman. 

Co-workers describe her as passionate about sustainability and green architecture.

Amber's tragic death hits home to everyone.  It is everyone's worst nightmare that someone they love would be killed by a stranger on the street.  

Amber is survived by many loving friends and family members including her parents, Stephanie and Troy Long.

Pray for justice for Amber.

God save us from the thieves.  They are killing us, Father.  

God save us from the Lost Ones, who bring death to strangers.

Pray that Amber is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
