Philip Scholz - A Good Samaritan died in California

Philip Scholz, age 35, of Pleasanton, California, died on January 20, 2014, at the Santa Clara Caltrain Station in California.

Sometime after 5:00 p.m., Philip was waiting for a train to take him home after work. He saw a man lying on the train tracks and rushed to help. As the train approached, Philip was seen dropping his backpack, running down the platform, reaching down towards the tracks to assist the man.

Tragically, the train struck Philip and the man on the tracks. Philip was killed and the other man was taken to hospital and is still alive at the time of this posting.

He was known as Phil to his family and friends.

Philip was raised in Washington State. He attended Santa Clara University in California. He was a marketing manager for the Nvidia Corporation, which is an American global technology company based in Santa Clara. He joined the company in 2001, rising through the ranks to the post of senior North American marketing manager.

Colleagues at Nvidia describe him as a hero.

Philip loved his job. He embraced life. He was always ready to help others. Friends

Philip is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Emily.

Pray for the Good Samaritans who come to the aid of strangers, selflessly. They are the true heroes of this world. And God knows it.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray that Philip is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
