Carlos Rivera-Vega - Law Enforcement - Puerto Rico

Agent Carlos Rivera-Vega, age 32, died on January 21, 2014, at a hospital at the Rio Piedras Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Carlos was a member of the Puerto Rico Police Department.  He had 14 years of service.

He served in the Mayaguez Drug Division.

On January 14, 2014, Carlos and other members of the Drug Division had gone to the Concordia Public Housing complex, in Mayagüez during an investigation.  While they were at the complex, a resident walked up to them and began asking the officers why they were at the complex. The man suddenly produced a handgun and opened fire, striking Agent Rivera-Vega twice in the abdomen.

The subject ran a short distance away and committed suicide as other officers pursued him.

The Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother.

Carlos is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two children.

Thank you for your service to the public, Carlos.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who linger and who suffer.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. Amen.

Pray that Carlos is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
