Adam Sowders - Law Enforcement - Texas

Sergeant Investigator Adam Sowders, age 31, died in the line of duty on December 19, 2013, at a rural home near Somerville, Texas.

Adam was a member of the Burleson County Sheriff's Office. He had 7 years of service. Adam had previously served with the Somerville Police Department.

Adam and seven other officers were attempting to serve a search warrant at a rural home near Somerville at about 6:00 a.m. As the team made entry into the home they were met with gunfire and Sergeant Sowders suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Henry Magee, age 28, from Somerville has been arrested and charged with Capital 
Murder of a Peace Officer.

Adam graduated from Somerville High School in 2001. He is described by school

Adam began his career at the sheriff's office as a patrol deputy in 2006 after serving as an officer with the Somerville Police Department. He was promoted to sergeant investigator earlier this year.

Police Officials stated that Adam was well-respected and extremely well-liked. His loss will be deeply felt.

Adam had also worked as a volunteer firefighter with the Somerville Volunteer Fire Department since he was 18 years old. His comrades there are in mourning.

Adam is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, Ann.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
