Jonam Russell - U.S. Military

1st Lt. Jonam Russell, age 25, of Cornville, Arizona, died on July 23, 2013, in Soltan Kheyl, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Jonam grew up in in Cottonwood, Arizona. He attended Arizona State University and graduated from the W.P. Carey School of Business in May of 2011. Jonam had been serving as an infantry officer since May of 2011.

Friends state that he was living his dream which was to serve his country. He loved the military.

Military comrades state that he could always be depended upon and that he will be greatly missed.

Jonam is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his parents, Gilbert and Sophia Russell; and five siblings.

Thank you for serving, Jonam.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Jonam.

Pray that Jonam is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
