David Manning - Sheriff's Deputy Fatality - North Carolina

David Manning
Deputy Sheriff David Manning, age 24, died in the line of duty on March 11, 2018, in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.

Deputy Sheriff Manning was a member of the Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office. He had 4 months of service.

After 6:00 p.m., David had noticed a traffic violation and was attempting to perform a traffic stop. Between the towns of Tarboro and Pinetops, he lost control of his patrol car on a curve. He collided with a pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction. The vehicle being pursued hit a ditch a short distance away. The driver of that vehicle fled the scene on foot.

Tragically, David succumbed to his injuries.

The people in the pickup truck that David's patrol car struck sustained non life threatening injuries.

David had graduated in November of 2017 from basic law enforcement training at Edgecombe Community College.
