Firefighter Hensley was a volunteer member of the Triple Community Fire Department based at Morganton, North Carolina. He had 6 months of service.
On October 8, 2017, just before midnight, Jason drove his own vehicle to a call regarding a fallen tree blocking a portion of U.S Highway 70. A police vehicle and a fire department truck were also on scene.

A pick-up truck approaching the scene crashed into Jason and then into the other vehicles. Tragically, Jason died at the scene.
The driver of the pick-up, Randall Stewart, age 58, has been charged with driving while impaired, having no operator’s license, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He may be facing still more charges.
Randall Stewart is innocent unless proven guilty.
Florian, Patron Saint of Firefighters, pray for Jason and for those who have lost him. |
However, we offer this advice to all drivers: If you find that you are drunk, wasted or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi or a bus; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.
Regret can last a lifetime.
