Heath Meyer - Fatality - Oklahoma Highway Patrol

Heath Meyer
Lieutenant Heath Meyer, age 43, died on July 24, 2017, at a hospital  in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Lieutenant Meyer was a member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He was assigned to Troop A in Oklahoma City. He had 12 years of service.

On July 14, 2017, Heath had deployed stop sticks on Interstate 35 near Moore, Oklahoma. Other troopers were pursuing a vehicle fleeing on the highway. Two patrol cars collided when they attempted to avoid the stop sticks. As a result, one of the patrol cars struck Heath.

Heath was rushed to a hospital in Oklahoma City where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on July 24th.

The driver of the fleeing vehicle, who has a prior criminal record, was later taken into custody.

Donations in Heath's name may be made to Oklahoma Concerns of Police Survivors (OK C.O.P.S.). An account has been set up at the DPS Federal Credit Union, 3650 N. Martin Luther King Avenue, Oklahoma City, 73111.
