Steven DiSario - Police Officer Fatality - Ohio

Steven DiSario

Chief of Police Steven DiSario, age 36, died in the line of duty on May 12, 2017, in Kirkersville, Ohio.

Chief DiSario was a member of the Kirkersville Police Department. He had been hired as Police Chief just a few weeks ago.

Kirkersville is a village in Licking County, Ohio with a population of under 550. Kirkersville is 130 miles northeast of Cincinnati.

Steven was responding to reports of a man with a gun outside of a local nursing home. He pulled up to the building and made contact with the male subject who then shot and killed Steven, then went into the building and murdered his girlfriend and another nursing home employee.

The subject, Thomas Hartless, age 43, then shot and killed himself. He has a prior

criminal history of violence against women.

Also deceased are Marlina Medrano, age 46 and Cindy Krantz, age 48. 

The citizens of Kirkersville are mourning over the death of their Police Chief who died as a hero in the defence of the community. Steven will be forever remembered.

Steven's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Steven is survived by many loving friends and family members including his wife and children.

Oceans of tears have been shed for Steven and for Marlina and Cindy.
