Sergeant 1st Class Robert R. Boniface, age 34, of San Luis Obispo, California, died on March 19, 2017, in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

Sergeant 1st Class Boniface was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group based at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
Robert died of a non-combat related incident which is under investigation.
Robert was participating in Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, which is the U.S. military's support of allies against terrorists in Afghanistan.
Robert was a Green Beret and a Medical Sergeant. He was originally from El Centro, California but had lived in San Luis Obispo for some time.
Robert entered the Army in 2006. In 2010, he became a Green Beret and served out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Robert's awards and decorations include two Bronze Stars, the Army Commendation Medal, and many others.
Robert's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their brother. He will be forever remembered.
