Nick Rodman |
Officer Rodman was a member of the Louisville Metro Police Department. He had three years of service.
Nicholas was known as Nick to his family and friends. His age has been reported as 30, but this is unconfirmed as of this posting.
About 8:00 p.m. on March 28, 2017, officers were pursuing a male suspect who had been involved in a domestic violence incident in which shots were fired. He had fled the scene in a vehicle.

Just as Nick was joining the pursuit, the wanted male suspect rammed his vehicle into Nick's patrol car, causing it to burst into flames. Other officers were able to pull Nick from the vehicle and rushed him to a local hospital.
Tragically, Nick succumbed to his injuries the following day.
The male suspect has been apprehended and is charged with murder and related charges.

Nick had attended Holy Cross High School in Louisville and then graduated from Georgetown College in 2009. Fraternity brothers at Georgetown describe Nick as their hero.
Nick's father and brother are also members of the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Friends describe Nick as a man who was kind in spirit. He had always wanted to be a Police Officer.
The members of the Louisville Metro Police Department are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Nick was a committed professional and a valued member of the Police Department. He was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.
Nick's loved ones are devastated over his tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Nick is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, son and newborn daughter.
