Matthew Lewellen, Kevin McEnroe and James Moriarty - U.S. Military Fatalities - Jordan

A terrible tragedy occurred on November 4, 2016, in Al-Jafr, Jordan.

Three young American soldiers were shot and killed as their convoy entered a Jordanian military base.

Tragically deceased are:

Staff Sgt. Matthew C. Lewellen, age 27, of Lawrence, Kansas
Staff Sgt. Kevin J. McEnroe, age 30, of Tucson, Arizona
Staff Sgt. James F. Moriarty, age 27, of Kerrville, Texas

The soldiers were assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. They were Green Berets. 

The three men were part of Operation Inherent Resolve which is the U.S. military's intervention against ISIS, including both the campaign in Iraq and the campaign in Syria.

Matthew Lewellen was on his second overseas tour of duty. He had more than six years of service and had been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon II, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and NATO Medal. Matt's family stated that he was doing what he loved to do. 

Kevin McEnroe had served in the military for more than eight years. This was his third overseas deployment. His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. 

James Moriarty had been in the Army more than five years and was in his second overseas deployment. His awards include the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

The comrades of these men at Fort Campbell are in mourning over the deaths of their young brothers. Matthew, Kevin and James are patriots and are heroes. They will be forever remembered.

The loved ones of Matthew, Kevin and James are devastated over their sudden and tragic deaths. They did their best. They will be forever mourned.

Oceans of tears have been shed for these men.

Thank you for your service to America - Matthew, Kevin and James.

Pray for all who die while far away from their loved ones.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray, without ceasing, unto God for an end to all War. It is enough, Father.

Pray that Matthew is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray that Kevin is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray that James is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
