Jason Farley |
Captain Farley was a member of the Claremore Fire Department. He had almost 20 years of service.
Claremore is a city of just over 19,000 people in Rogers County, Oklahoma.
Parts of Oklahoma were subjected to torrential downpours and during the late evening of May 23rd Jason and other firefighters were responding to flash flooding calls on the west side of town.
Jason was attempting to rescue people inside several duplexes where the water was high. You couldn't see where the ditches were. Suddenly, the waters pulled him into a storm drain. Other firefighters worked all night to try to find him but were unable to reach him in time.

Tragically he died at the scene.
Another firefighter, Zane James, rushed in to help and was also pulled into the drain but was able to reach safety.
