Sergeant Moore was a member of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department. He began his law enforcement career as a deputy sheriff in Asotin County, Washington, in late 1997 and began work in Coeur d'Alene in 1999.
At about 1:30 a.m., Greg was patrolling an area of the city in response to several car break-ins. He stopped a suspicious male and radioed in the man's data. Sometime during this procedure the male opened fire, striking Greg. A citizen found Greg in the street and called the Police.
Greg was rushed to a local hospital where tragically he died of his injuries.

The suspect stole Greg's patrol car and fled the scene. The stolen vehicle was spotted in the town of Post Falls. A high speed chase ensued and the suspect was later found hiding under a car in a parking lot.
Jonathan Renfro, age 26, has been charged with attempted murder. The charges may be upgraded. He has a lengthy rap sheet and was currently on probation.
The Coeur d'Alene Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Greg was well respected by his comrades. He was a mentor and trusted friend to many. He served the community with honor. He will be forever remembered.
Earlier in 2015, Greg was awarded the Police Star for bravery and professionalism. He had many special skills and training certifications including as a Post Certified Instructor in Arrest Techniques, Instructor for Communications, and was a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team.
Greg's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.
Greg is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and two children.
