Police Officer Michael Johnson died in the line of duty on March 24, 2015, in San Jose, California.

Michael Johnson
Officer Johnson was a member of the San Jose Police Department.  He had 14 years of service.

After 6:30 p.m., Officer Johnson and several other officers responded to a call that Scott Dunham, age 57, was drunk, despondent and was threatening to shoot himself.

As the officers approached the apartment building where Dunham lived, he stepped out onto the balcony and started shooting.  Michael Johnson was fatally wounded. Officers provided first aid but tragically he died at the scene.

Officers fired at the shooter and later gained entry into the apartment where he was found dead. It has yet to be determined if he died by his own hand or was killed by a police bullet.
