Darrell Perritt and Ashley |
Deputy Perritt was a member of the Maury County Sheriff's Department which is based in Columbia, Tennessee. He had three months of service with the Department and two years of service as a reserve deputy.
At about 3:00 a.m., Darrell was on his way to assist another deputy who was in pursuit of a vehicle whose driver was suspected of being impaired. Police believe that the driver may have been involved in a hit and run accident earlier.
Darrell lost control of his patrol car which slid off the roadway and struck a tree. He died at the scene.
The female driver continued to flee but crashed a short time later. She was flown to a hospital and released as uninjured. She has numerous charges pending.
