Jordan Spears - U.S. Military - a Soldier who died in the fight against ISIS

Jordan Spears
Corporal Jordan Spears, age 21, of Memphis, Indiana, died on October 1, 2014, in the sea in the North Arabian Gulf.

Jordan was assigned to Marine Tiltrotor Squadron 163, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar, based in San Diego.

Jordan's Marine unit had been supporting current operations in the Arabian Gulf, including the battle against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Jordan was a crewman on a tilt rotor aircraft which is an advanced sort of helicopter/airplane combination. The aircraft lost power soon after takeoff and descended to the surface of the ocean.

Jordan and another crewman decided to jump into the water when it appeared that the aircraft was about to crash.

The pilots were able to regain control and to land the aircraft on their home ship, the "Makin Island".

One air crewman was recovered from the water. Jordan was not found and he is
Angels of God, pray for Jordan and for
those who have lost him
presumed to be "lost at sea".

Jordan was a 2011 graduate of Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg, Indiana.

Jordan enlisted in the Marines on October 14, 2010. This was his first overseas deployment.

His personal and service awards include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Jordan's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Military officials describe Jordan as a cherished member of their team who fulfilled a key role in their combat duties. He will be forever remembered.

Jordan's family members are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. They stated that Jordan was proud to be a Marine and they, in turn, are proud of him. They will miss him forever.

Friends describe him as a good kid, trying to do his best.

The family asks that if you wish to do so, donations in Jordan's honor may be made to the Injured Semper Fi Fund, at https://semperfifund.org/

Jordan is survived by many loving comrades, friends and relatives including his mother, Cosette; his father, Gregory; his brothers, Grant and Nathan; and his sisters, Ilana, Brittany and Jessi.

Thank you for serving, Jordan.

Pray for all who die at age 21. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to War. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Jordan.

Pray that Jordan is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
