Terry Hurne - U.S. Military

Terry Hurne

Spc. Terry J. Hurne, age 34, of Merced, California, died on June 9, 2014, in Logar province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.

The Department of Defense on June 10, 2014, stated that Spc. Hurne died of a non-combat related incident.  There have been conflicting reports about the cause of death which is under investigation.  

Terry was a 1998 graduate of Atwater High School. 

He was just weeks away from returning home.

Family members stated that everybody loved Terry. He always had a smile on his face. He tried to make the best of every day. He is also described as a loving person. Family members are devastated by Terry's sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Terry is survived by many loving comrades, friends and relatives including his father, Norman; his brother and two sisters; his wife, Natalie; and his stepmother.

Thank you for serving, Terry.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. Terry wouldn't have died there if there was no war there.

Pray that Terry is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
