Afghan and international forces had carried out a joint operation against Taliban fighters on June 9, 2014. At the end of the day, the forces returned to their base, where at about 9 p.m. they came under fire from Taliban rockets. Airstrikes against the Taliban were undertaken which mistakenly hit U.S. and Afghan troops, killing Jason and four other U.S. soldiers, one Afghan interpreter and one Afghan soldier.
Jason was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Jason attended High School in Cordele. He signed up for the Army in 2004.
He had been deployed several times to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Jason's family members are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. They stated
that Jason could always make them laugh. He will be forever mourned.
Jason is survived by many loving comrades, friends and relatives including his wife and two daughters.
Thank you for serving, Jason.
Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Jason.
Pray that Jason is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
Light a candle for Jason. Light his way to Heaven. |
