He was assigned 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Jason graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 2003 and attended West Point Military Academy. He graduated from West Point in 2007 with a degree in nuclear engineering.
This was Jason's second overseas deployment. He had previously served in Iraq. This current deployment to Afghanistan commenced in April of 2014.

During his career he received numerous awards and decorations including the
Bronze Star Medal.

Friends describe Jason as a good son and an honorable and respectful man. He was
helpful, understanding and a role model to others. He will be forever missed.

Family members are devastated by Jason's sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.
Jason had wanted to be a soldier since he was a small kid. He is described as laid back, humble, fun loving and deeply in love with his wife. He enjoyed the outdoors - fishing and boating, football and running.
Jason is survived by many loving comrades, friends and relatives including his parents, Jay and Suzy Jones; his sister, Lizzy; and his wife, Amy.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Jason.
