Clecensia Kapuli - a Nun in Tanzania killed by thieves

Sister Clecensia Kapuli, age 50, died on June 23, 2014, in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

She was an accountant with the Makoka Parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Dar Es Salaam.

Clecensia had visited a bank in the city to withdraw cash in order to pay workers at the school where she worked. She was the treasurer at the school. She was in the company of another Nun.

As she left the bank, just before 2:00 p.m., her car was stopped by three armed men on motorcyles. These men had followed her and knew that she had an unspecified amount of cash in her possession.

Sister Clecensia resisted handing over the money to the thieves and therefore they
Jesus, pray for Clecensia
killed her and wounded the driver of her vehicle, shooting off his thumb. They then ran off with the money. The other Nun escaped injury.

Tanzania is a third world country of approximately 45 million people. You can't rely on news reports from this country. There are no photos of Sister Clecensia Kapuli and no personal information about her. In Tanzania she is just a statistic.

Suffice it to say, she died doing her job and in the service of her faith.

Clecensia's loved ones are devastated over her tragic and senseless death. She will be forever mourned.

Clecensia is survived by many loving sisters in her Order.

God save us from the thieves. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Clecensia is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
