Drew Scobie - U.S. Military

Sgt. Drew M. Scobie, age 25, of Kailua, Hawaii, died on January 10, 2014, at Bagram Airfield, in Parwan Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when the aircraft he was aboard crashed.

The incident is under investigation. It is believed that the crash was due to a mechanical malfunction and not due to enemy fire.

He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 487th Field Artillery, Wahiawa, Hawaii Army National Guard, Oahu, Hawaii.

He was a graduate of Kalaheo High School. He worked as a medical technician at Straub.

Family members describe Drew as a loving father, husband, son, brother and friend
Gabriel, Archangel, who stands
in the presence of God, pray for
Drew
who is a hero to his family. Drew loved his family deeply, proudly and heroically carried the Aloha spirit wherever he went to defend our country. Drew's zest for life was contagious and always made his family proud. He will remain an example for his son Duke, his unborn baby, his entire family and the many who were touched by his upbeat and positive attitude for everything he did. Drew will always be in our hearts and his spirit will live on and become part of the essence of our islands just like the breeze on the ocean. Love knows no distance and Drew is here and will always remain in our hearts.

Military comrades stated that it was an honor to serve with Drew. He will be deeply missed.

Friends stated that Drew always put others before himself and strove to better his life and the lives of his loved ones.

Drew is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, McKenna and their son, Duke. Another child is expected in June of 2014.

Thank you for serving, Drew.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Drew. He would not have died in a crash in Afghanistan if there was no war in Afghanistan. God give us peace.

Pray that Drew is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
