Sonny Zimmerman - U.S. Military

Sonny Zimmerman and his

Staff Sgt. Sonny C. Zimmerman, age 25, of Waynesfield, Ohio, died on July 16, 2013, in Mushaka, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was attacked by a rocket propelled grenade.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. 

Sonny was a 2005 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School, where he played baseball and graduated with a 3.2 grade point average. 

High school officials describe him as a good kid, who was a hard worker and always involved.

He enlisted in 2005 and stated at that time that he wanted to serve his country.

Waynesfield, Ohio is greatly grieving the loss of this young soldier.

Sonny is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Michelle Fischbach; his father, Chris Zimmerman; his sister, Bailey Zimmerman; his grandmother, Loretta Zimmerman; and his wife, Morgan Zimmerman.

Thank you for serving, Sonny.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Sonny.

Pray that Sonny is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
