Tony was a member of the Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department based in Hays, North Carolina. He had one year and 5 months of service with the Department.
Wind from a storm in Wilkes County blew part of a maple tree across power lines igniting a fire in a small structure. Tony responded to the call and was bending over to look more closely where the fire was coming from and was less than 3 feet away from the structure when he collapsed.
Electricity from the power lines on the structure likely moved through the building and unpaved ground, electrocuting Tony.
Tony was pulled away from the structure and CPR was instigated but his comrades were unable to revive him. He was pronounced deceased at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Fire Department Officials stated that Tony was a super nice fellow. He was always happy, always grinning, always had something to say. He really loved the fire department.
