Andrew Phelps - A Good Samaritan in Arizona

Andrew Phelps
Andrew Phelps came to the aid of a police officer on January 8, 2013, in Maricopa County, Arizona.

Deputy Ruben Garcia, a 29-year veteran with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, was shot during a traffic stop on a city street shortly after midnight.

Deputy Garcia thought he was pulling over a man who was suicidal.

But the suspect, Donald Miller, instead shot Ruben Garcia in the face, fled the scene and was later killed in a shootout with police.

At the time of the incident, Andrew Phelps, who lives near to the scene of the shooting, ran out of his home, and helped to save Deputy Garcia's life by giving him constant chest compressions until medics could arrive.

Andrew stated: "I ran to my front door and I looked out and I saw there was a man on

the ground." And Andrew ran to his aid.

Andrew is a good Samaritan who came to the aid of another.

Our world needs this type of thinking. Without men like Andrew, we are in trouble.

After the shot in the face, Deputy Garcia has distorted vision in one eye. His jaw is painful. He has undergone corrective surgeries. He is slowly healing.

Ruben Garcia is thankful to Andrew Phelps for his help before Emergency Personnel arrived. Andrew may have saved his life.

Pray that Ruben is healed and healthy. Amen.

God bless men like Andrew Phelps who come to the aid of strangers. They are the Good Samaritans. Amen.
