Ryan |
The couple, who are Vietnamese immigrants, were rushing to the hospital because the wife was giving birth. The child was born in their car but the little girl was not breathing.
The husband had called 911 but was having difficulty understanding the operators's instructions because of the language barrier. He saw Ryan's vehicle and flagged him down frantically.
The Good Samaritan comes to the aid of others selflessly |
Ryan could have sped on by but he stopped and rendered aid. He calmly followed the instructions of the 911 dispatcher, Steven Kuluk. Steven explained to Ryan how to cover the baby’s mouth and nose with his mouth and to blow breaths of air into the tiny girl’s lungs. The infant eventually responded to the CPR, letting out a few whimpers. Her body heaved back to life.
The premature baby, named Kiera, weighed only 3 pounds and 8 ounces. She is doing fine now.
The parents of Kiera are profoundly grateful to Ryan Cornelissen, the man who stopped to help, and to Steven Kuluk, the Dispatcher who guided Ryan through the life saving process.
Ryan attended Dakota High School where he played football. He is now attending Macomb County College.
He would like to become a Police Officer.
God knows we need more men like Ryan who come to the aid of others.
God bless men like Ryan who are the Good Samaritans. Amen.
