Luke Bresette - 10 year old killed at Alabama Airport

Luke Bresette, age 10, of Overland Park, Kansas, died on March 22, 2013, at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, in Alabama.

The Bresette family had been vacationing at Destin Beach, Florida. They were returning home to Kansas and had a layover at the Airport in Alabama.

The family was standing near a flight status sign board when it fell, injuring Heather Bresette, Luke's Mother, and Luke (age 10), Sam (age 8) and Tyler (age 5). The sign is estimated to weigh between 300 and 400 pounds. The airport was undergoing renovations at the time of the accident.

Luke was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. As of this posting, Heather Bresette is in hospital with serious injuries including a fractured pelvis and two broken ankles. Tyler suffered a concussion and Sam broke his left leg.

Luke was a fifth grader at St. Thomas More, a Catholic school in Kansas City, Missouri. Officials there describe him as a normal kid, who'd been on the city champion basketball team and was always at Mass on Sunday mornings.

Luke is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother Heather, 
father Ryan; sister Anna; and brothers Joe, Sam and Tyler.
