Josh Humphrey - a Good Samaritan from Derbyshire, England

Josh Humphrey, age 20, of Matlock, Derbyshire, England, came to the aid of a stranger on March 24, 2013.

The Good Samaritan
comes to the aid of
others, selflessly.
Josh was waiting for a bus at Bakewell bus station when an elderly commuter asked him if the buses were running as he'd been waiting a long time.

After waiting for around another two hours without a bus turning up, Josh saw that the elderly man was shivering.

Josh said: "It was horrible to see – he must have been in his mid-seventies. I told him that I'd ring a taxi for both of us, but he said he only had enough money for the bus – I said, 'don't worry about that'."

When the taxi arrived, the pair got in and Josh asked the driver to take the man – who told Josh his name was Norman – back to his home in Darley Dale.

Josh said his new friend's spirits were visibly lifted when the taxi turned up: "He was really happy – it was such a great feeling. When we got to his house I got out to say goodbye and he just hugged me – I felt like crying!"

The bus company had cancelled the bus that Josh and Norman were waiting for because of snow conditions. If they had stayed at the bus stop they would have stayed there forever, freezing.

The lengthy taxi trip cost Josh 25 British Pounds.

Josh's parents must be proud of him.  We would be.

God bless Josh Humphrey and all those like him who come to the aid of strangers. They are the Good Samaritans.
