She was visiting friends when she was shot in the head at around 11:30 p.m.
Family members have stated that the bullet that killed Janay was meant for another.
Janay died on the same day that her younger sister had sat on the stage behind President Barack Obama, listening to him push for gun control legislation.
As of this posting, no charges have been laid in this tragedy.
Janay was supposed to graduate from an alternative school this spring. She wanted to go into the culinary arts.

Family members stated that Janay was deeply affected by the death of another innocent Chicago girl, Hadiya Pendelton, last month, who was shot by gangbangers spraying gunfire into a crowd of students.
Janay is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her mother, Angela Blakely; her father, Herbert McFarlane; her 14 year old sister; and her 3 month old son.
Pray for all who die young and violently.
Pray for justice for Janay.
Let us pray that Janay is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
